The tour starts at the Spanish border and ends at the most southwesterly point of Europe.
Crossing the Algarve east to the west along the varied coastline. You ride on good, unsurfaced tracks or metalled side roads. The routes are predominantly flat to hilly. There are some steep climbs and descents on the last three days

Detailed holiday and bike tour description
You arrive at Faro airport and take a cab (12 Euros approx.) to your hotel in Faro. In the evening you will be welcomed by the LisaBikes team in the hotel lobby. The bicycles will be handed over and adjusted, afterwards we make a trip orientation.
Day 2 Faro - Vila Real (by train) Tavira – 34 km
In the morning you go by train from Faro to Vila Real de Santo António. The tour begins along the river Guadiana and then on bike paths and natural tracks through pine forests, citrus and vine plantations, along the sea.
It continues through the tourist resorts of Monte Gordo, Manta Rota, crowded in summer with tourists from around the world but quiet and deserted in winter. Pass the villages of Cacela Velha and Fábrica and go through Cabanas, with very nice cobblestone paved beach promenade and a fortress from the 17th Century.
Shortly before Tavira the tour leads through the lagoons and salt basins of the famous salt extraction "Flor de Sal" and afterwards you ride along the natural park "Ria Formosa". At last you will reach your milstone of today’s stage, the town of Tavira with the river Gilão. Just before the river you pass through the historical part of Tavira and reach your hotel.
Day 3 Tavira – Faro 45 km
From the hotel, today's tour leads you on nature trails, along a lagoon with a large sandbar to Faro . You drive through the small fishing village of Santa Luzia and Pedras del Rei Holiday Resort, where a small narrow gauge railway runs through the middle of the lagoon to the sandy beach Praia do Barril. The ride goes through the fishing port Fuseta where you can watch the fishermen with their catch when entering or while preparing the exit.
Next on a good bike path along the sea and for a short distance on the main road EN 125 you continue the tour to Olhão . At the city entrance there is the " Quinta de Marim " and then you reach the port of Olhão, the largest fishing port in the Algarve. After a few kilometers you will reach the city of Faro, the capital of the Algarve. About marked cycle trails you will come in the historical part of the town, which you traverse, pass the marina and reach your today's hotel.
Day 4 Faro – Albufeira 42 km
Not far from the hotel, cross the railway line and drive along on nature tracks to the center of the natural reserve " Ria Formosa ". The ride continues along the railway line in direction to the airport where you turn in a natural track and go through lagoons with many water birds and salt basins , riding along the sea to the holiday resort of Quinta do Lago .
Then the tour continues through the Vale do Lobo resort, one of the biggest and most beautiful resorts in Portugal. You turn around a bay and reach the beach promenade of Quarteira and afterwards the marina of Vilamoura , with over 800 berths one of the largest private marina in Portugal. You circumnavigate the port and drive along the sandy beaches, to Olhos de Água, a typical Portuguese village, which is located close to Albufeira, and is your today's destination. .
Day 5 Albufeira – Portimão 57 km
Today's tour is beginning with a ride through Albufeira . This former fishing village is now one of the most known tourist resorts in the Algarve. On the western outskirts of the city you pass through the marina and then arrive to Galé. Then you ride on a long wooden board track and on nature trails along the beach, passing through a pristine wetland area of the Ribeira de Alcantarilha, towards Armação de Pêra. Next, the tour takes you along the sandy beach through the village and reaches the chapel “A Nossa Srª da Rocha". Subsequently you get on nature trails along the cliffs to Carvoreiro and Ferragudo at the estuary of the river Arade, which you cross on an impressive bridge. Shortly afterwards already visible today's destination of the tour, the city Portimão and you will arrive on cycle trails to Praia da Rocha where your hotel is located.
Day 6 Portimão – Salema 54 km
Today you visit the small village Alvor , which is located in the lagoon of the Rio do Alvor. You ride through romantic alleys, drive around the lagoon and over a range of hills to the sea, along the coast towards Lagos. After Lagos you ride along the gold coast “Costa dOiro“ to Praia da Luz, a small quiet seaside village with an old church and a fortress. You drive through the village on a cobblestone street, through small holiday villages and reach Burgau. You branch off into a natural path and go through a pristine evergreen hills, which suddenly opens up and reach a small romantic beach. After a short climb to a hilltop and before the descent offer yourself a wonderful view on your milestone, the village of Salema .
Day 7 Salema – Sagres 32 km
Today, the last stage begins and ends at the most south-western point of Europe. After Salema starts a steep climb on a hilltop, further on through an open area with fields towards the village Figueira. After then you'll continue on slightly hilly terrain through farmers’ fields, pass a constant uphill and downhill on natural trails to the small village of Raposeira , by narrow alleys, and reach Vila da Bispo. The tour leads through a barren plateau directly to the main road to the lighthouse complex at Cabo de São Vicente , which is located on 60m high cliffs . Next, you ride on a beautiful coast road and reach your destination of this stage, Sagres .
Day 8Return journey
Transfer, you will be chauffeured by us with a minibus to Faro airport or to any other place in the Algarve.
